What are uPVC Windows and Why are they Popular?

uPVC stands for “Unplasticised PolyVinyl Chloride” which is also known as rigid PVC because it is inflexible in comparison to normal PVC. It is a plastic powder used for window frames and normally used for commercial or residential purposes. They are popular because of their contemporary design and thermal efficiency. It is durable, affordable and low-maintenance which is what makes them attractive to homeowners.

How to Fit Blinds to uPVC Windows

Attaching blinds to uPVC windows seems like a daunting task, but it is in fact, relatively simple. You can install blinds on your own, even if you are inexperienced contrary to what you may hear. You can install the blinds with or without drilling. They are an effective way to block light out of windows. Below we will provide you with clear step-by-step instructions so you will have your blinds perfectly fitted in no time.

Before starting, it is important to have all the right tools for the job. If you are using a drill make sure to have it handy along with a measuring tape, a spirit level and a pen or pencil to use for marking. Make sure no obstructions are covering the window.

Measure window

Step one:
Place the brackets on the window frame where you will hang your blind

Step two: Using a pen, mark the place where you want to fix your brackets

Step three: Measure from one side of the wall to the other, use a centre bracket to align it correctly. Find out how to measure and fit certain blinds by viewing our blinds measure and fit guide.

Step four: Drill screws into your window frame to safely secure the brackets

Step five: Pin the headrail into the brackets and check that it is working correctly

If you do not want to damage the integrity of the windows, some people would prefer not using a drill for uPVC windows which is a popular option and is simpler to do.
